As part of the UMAS IN project, students from the Department of Visual Communication Design at the Arts Academy in Split participated in developing the visual identity for UMAS FEST during the winter semester. Under the mentorship of Assoc. Prof. Art Maris Cilić and Teaching Assistant Ana Bodrožić, the project was carried out in collaboration with the Academy's Music, Theatre, and Fine Arts Departments. Through fieldwork and attendance at rehearsals, concerts, exhibitions, plays, and screenings, the students explored the festival's programmatic and production context, engaging in discussions with students and faculty members across various departments. The collected materials were documented through textual and visual journals, photographs, and sketches, and subsequently analyzed through group discussions and collaborative visual maps. Based on this research, concepts for the festival's visual identity were developed, with the workflow managed through continuous presentations, evaluations, and mentoring guidance.
In the final phase, an anonymous internal competition was conducted to select the festival's visual identity, resulting in four student submissions. The expert committee—comprising Assoc. Prof. Art Dr. Sc. Miona Miliša (Dean), Assist. Prof. Dr. Sc. Matko Botić (Vice-Dean for Science and Art), Prof. Art Dejan Kršić, Assoc. Prof. Art Dr. Sc. Nikola Đurek, and Teaching Assistant Ana Bodrožić—selected the work of first-year graduate Visual Communication Design student Maja Glibota, which will serve as the foundation for the future visual communication of UMAS FEST. Second and third place were awarded to Mauro Cilić Dalmatin, while fourth place went to Ivan Pavlov. In the next phase, the selected concept will be further developed and applied to various festival communication materials, including posters, digital posts, and other promotional formats.
