It offers one integrated and ten undergraduate and graduate university study programmes: undergraduate (lasting three years) and graduate (lasting two years), which are Painting, Sculpture, Visual Culture and Visual Arts, Film and Media Arts, Visual Communication Design, and integrated university study (lasting five years): Conservation-Restoration.
The Visual Art Department has excellent teachers of art giving lectures in professional and theoretical subjects. In practical, individual curriculum students receive education in the traditional and modern methodical way of art, art-pedagogical, design or conservation production.
Teachers and students of the Art Department of the Academy of Arts participate in domestic and international exhibitions, workshops, competitions, festivals, symposia, etc.
The Department of Visual Arts Arts is actively involved in the city social life, contributing to the dynamism of exhibitions and other artistic activities. Through pedagogical and art workshops, it raises awareness of fine arts among young people nurturing a modern approach to education. It attracts numerous students from the country and abroad. It also contributes to a great extent to heritage preservation through conservation and restoration projects and other scientific and artistic research in the Split and Dalmatia areas.
