About department

The String Instruments and Guitar department offers specialist tuition on violin, viola cello and guitar. The programme aims towards the highest performance standards, preparing students for the demands of solo, ensemble and orchestral work, as well as teaching. There is a strong collaboration with the orchestra of the Split National Theatre and our graduates lead the chamber-music profession of Split and the entire southern region of the country. An Erasmus exchange is well established with numerous visits both ways, and students regularly receive awards at the national and international competitions.

The department participates in the organisation of an annual event known as ‘J.S. Bach Days’ which comprises lectures on and concerts of baroque music.
