Wood Lithography Workshop Held in Lokve

From 7 to 11 April 2026, an associate professor and an assistant from the Department of Visual Culture and Fine Art of the Arts Academy in Split — Assoc. Prof. Art. Maja Zemunik and Ivona Pupačić Kamenjarin — conducted field-based teaching in Lokve, Gorski Kotar, in cooperation with the Goran Sculpture Workshop Lokve.

The aim of the field teaching was to encourage inter-university collaboration, connect students from different study programs, and enable the exchange of ideas, experiences, and artistic poetics within a unique artistic discipline.

These goals were successfully achieved by bringing together students from three universities — the Design and Audiovisual Communications Study Programme of Juraj Dobrila University of Pula, the Art Education programme of the Academy of Applied Arts at the University of Rijeka, and the Department of Visual Culture and Fine Art of the Arts Academy, University of Split — under the roof of the graphic studio of the Goran Sculpture Workshop.

On this occasion, a four-day workshop on the mokulito technique (wood lithography) was organized at the Goran Sculpture Workshop studio in the “Picirk” Cultural Centre in Lokve. The workshop was led by Asst. Prof. Art. Tihana Karlović, head of the graphic section of the Goran Sculpture Workshop, from Juraj Dobrila University of Pula.

Participants in the workshop included students from the Department of Visual Culture and Fine Art: Augustina Maslov Vidaković, Katarina Granić, and Irena Bralić; students from the Design and Audiovisual Communications programme of Juraj Dobrila University of Pula: Hana Tabaković, Lucija Čik, and Dario Jakosović; and Alma Mimica, a graduate student of Art Education at the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka.

In addition to intensive work in the graphic studio, the stay in Gorski Kotar was further enriched by visits to the natural attractions of the Municipality of Lokve, including Lokvarka Cave and the Golubinjak forest park.

We send warm regards to all participants and look forward to our future collaboration.

The activity was co-financed by the European Union through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NextGenerationEU) as part of the institutional research project Contact: Art in the Community – KUZ, IP-UNIST-56, of the Arts Academy in Split.
