Production of a Documentary Film and the IDIUP_5 Database
As part of the activity "Production of a Documentary Film and the IDIUP_5 Database," audiovisual recordings and interviews were conducted on October 16 and 17, 2026, at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MSU) in Zagreb. The participants included Andrea Kulunčić (visual artist), Žarko Paić (philosopher of art), Irma Omerzo (choreographer and dancer), and Mirta Pavić (conservator-restorer). Each participant presented their own perspective on the issues of documentation, archives, and documents within contemporary art practices.
The activity focused on gathering material for a documentary film and a web-based database for the IDIUP project, with a particular emphasis on methods for documenting, archiving, preserving, and interpreting documentary material within the fields of contemporary art, film, and digital culture.
Through these conversations, various perspectives on documentation and archiving were explored—ranging from contemporary digital and internet-based art practices, through theoretical reflections and critical discourses, to conservation and restoration procedures related to the preservation and documentation of artworks. The activity provided deeper insight into contemporary strategies for preserving cultural memory and underscored the importance of systematically collecting, processing, and organizing documentary material as a foundation for future research, interpretation, and presentation of art practices.
The filming and interviews were conceived and carried out by Prof. Art. Slobodan Jokić (interviewer and moderator), Full Professor of Art Toni Meštrović (camera), Assistant Professor of Art Gildo Bavčević (sound), and Mikula Nižetić (lighting). The collected audiovisual materials represent a valuable research and educational resource and will be incorporated into the digital database and documentary film of the IDIUP project. Their availability will contribute to a better understanding of documentation, archival, and artistic practices within contemporary culture and art.
