Within the framework of the UMAS OPEN STAGE work package, guest lectures were held by External Assistant Professor Goran Jurković for saxophone students at the Arts Academy in Split, covering the period from March 1 to June 30, 2026. The activity included individual and group classes, as well as lectures in the fields of Chamber Music for Saxophones, Orchestral Excerpts for Saxophones, Methods of Saxophone Teaching, and Related Instruments. Seven saxophone students participated in the activity.
Through this activity, a new collaboration was established within the UMAS-In project with External Assistant Professor Goran Jurković, a prominent saxophonist and pedagogue who serves as a saxophone professor at the Jastrebarsko Music School. Jurković is a co-founder of the Papandopulo Quartet and the Jaska Saxophone School, bringing years of experience in concert performance, chamber music, and pedagogical work. His involvement in the project allowed students to bridge their regular study curriculum with real-world professional performance and teaching practices.
The lectures comprised both theoretical content and hands-on work with students through live demonstrations, individual corrections, Q&A sessions, and practical assignments. Conducted as part of regular classes, this activity gave students direct insight into professional performance and pedagogical frameworks. The activity contributes directly to the project performance indicator Training and Professional Development Programs for Students and Faculty, which encompasses guest lectures under the UMAS OPEN STAGE work package.
