REMINDER – CALL FOR PAPERS

The International Musicological Society (IMS) announces a joint conference of the IMS Study Groups “Music Migrations and Networking” and “Mediterranean Music Studies” / sub-group “Circulation of Opera” on the topic:

Music Migrations and the Opera in the Mediterranean

The conference will take place on 23–24 April 2026 in Hvar (Island of Hvar, Croatia). Scholars wishing to propose a paper related to the conference theme are kindly invited to contact the organizers (Maja Milošević Carić, Dinko Fabris or Vjera Katalinić) by 28 February 2026.

Proposals should include a working title and an abstract of approximately 300 words for a 20-minute paper. Contributions may address the conference theme within a broad and interdisciplinary framework. Each proposal should be accompanied by a short biography of approximately 150 words. All submissions must be in English.

Hvar can be easily reached via Split (airport, train, bus, ferry) and by ferry to Hvar. The meeting will be held in the oldest municipal theatre on the eastern shores of the Adriatic (1612), still in use today.

Organized by the International Musicological Society (IMS) in cooperation with the Croatian Musicological Society, the Museum of Hvar Heritage and the Cultural Public Institution “HVAR 1612”, with the support of the University of Split and the research project OPERISM – Eastern Adriatic Opera Theatres (1860–1960) at the University of Zadar.
